EAO Offers Handheld Controls

Intuitively rugged designs provide reliable operation of machinery in harsh environments

SHELTON, Conn., March 2018 - EAO, the expert partner for innovative, intuitive and reliable Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), offers custom built, customer defined handheld controls that reliably meet the rigorous demands of harsh industrial environments.  These intuitively designed units can be wired or wireless to provide efficient control of machinery regardless of the operator’s location.

These custom built, rugged operator controls are a comprehensive solution that feature a “mixed technologies” approach of combining IP-rated discrete switches, rubberized, programmable keypads and CAN interfaces for effective use in harsh environments. Additionally, the demands placed on handheld control devices can be much greater than built-in units. Unique features of the handheld controls include:

  • Standard or custom enclosures
  • Integration of touch screens and displays
  • IP65/IP67/IP69K rated switches with custom labelling and illumination capabilities
  • Implementation of network protocols, including CAN, J1939, ISOBUS, LIN BUS, AS-i and others
  • The ability to withstand the effects of heat, cold, humidity, dust, vibration, shock and chemicals

These handheld controls are ideal for industrial settings, which require a robust and intuitive operation. HMI components must not only withstand dirt and moisture but must also be intuitive and easy to control. Visual requirements, such as insight into processes, call for flexibility when controlling machinery. EAO’s handheld controls allow the end user to choose the best position in any given situation to monitor the process and give the commands that the machine will implement.
